April 10, 2017 – We recently spent a day in the all-new Cadillac XT5, courtesy of IMPEX – the exclusive Cadillac dealer in Lebanon. There’s a lot to expect from a car that has the Cadillac badge as the brand is among the oldest in the world and it competes with the Germans. Unsurprisingly, the American premium car manufacturer did not fail to deliver with the new XT5. Here are 5 things we love about the new crossover SUV.
It’s a Cadillac
Yes, we love it because it’s a Cadillac. Sure, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz produce equally nice cars, but there will always be something special about a Cadillac, especially in Lebanon where they project a sense of exclusivity, whereas the German rivals are a lot more common.
It has a phone holder!
Finding a place for your smartphone can be a real struggle in most cars as you always end up putting it in a place that it is not meant for, such as a cup holder or an arm rest. Not in the XT5, though, because this baby has a smartphone holder with wireless charging, located right beneath the central arm rest. Other manufacturers please take note.
It comes loaded with equipment
The new XT5 is packed with technology; reading the equipment sheet will give you a headache. Some of the things that come as standard on the Luxury trim that we tested include Adaptive Remote Start, Driver Awareness Package (Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Detection, Automatic Braking and more), Front & Rear Park Assist, Cadillac CUE infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen. There’s also a really cool feature called Universal Home Remote that allows you to open your home’s garage door quite literally at the push of a button.
It has a subtly sexy design
The XT5 is a crossover that makes you stand out in a discreet kind of way. It’s subtle and understated and it’s the kind of car that shows you mean business. However, it’s still easily distinguishable thanks to a combination of sharp angles and signature vertical headlights and taillights. Moving inside, the cabin is a beautiful place to be seated in and there’s no shortage of comfort and luxury.
It makes you forget how bad our roads can be
When you drive the XT5, you forget how bad our roads are because the crossover does a brilliant job of cancelling out all of the disturbances. Couple the awesome suspension with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 310 hp and 366 Nm of torque, and you get a potent crossover that is superb to drive on a daily basis. All-wheel drive is standard, but you can switch to front-wheel drive by changing the driving mode.
