Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn sees no reason why their 2012 challenger, the Mercedes W03, cannot win races.
The german squad looked strong throughout winter pre-season testing with the car proving fast and reliable in the hands of both Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. The team is motivated more than ever to score their first triumph since taking over the Brawn outfit in 2010.
Asked whether the W03 had what it takes to be a winning car, Brawn replied: “I think you always believe that. You want a winning car and I have not seen anything that tells me it shouldn’t be.
“It is difficult to judge because you don’t know what fuel other people are running.”
Brawn replied after being asked to predict where Mercedes stands in the pecking order.
The 2012 Formula 1 season is set to kick off in Australia this week during the two Friday practice sessions, where we will witness the cards finally unfold.
