Dani Pedrosa secured his second victory of the season to close to within 18 points of championship leader and Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo after a dominant drive at Indianapolis.
Pedrosa’s genuine race win threat came from Yamaha rider Ben Spies who lead early in the race but then suffered a blown engine which killed his hopes of a possible win and handed Pedrosa the lead.
Pedrosa took on from there and crossed the line in 1st place, 10 seconds ahead of Jorge Lorenzo who finished 2nd, while 3rd place went to Andrea Dovizioso after a long fight with the injured Casey Stoner.
Alvaro Bautista beat Stefan Bradl to fifth place, while Valentino Rossi finished the race a quiet seventh place, followed by Cardion Ducati’s Karel Abraham and CRT riders Yonny Hernandez and Aleix Espagaro.
