After teasing the car a few days back, Volkswagen has finally released the first official photos of its highly-anticipated seventh-generation Golf following the car’s public presentation yesterday in Berlin, Germany.
Although the new Golf doesn’t look too revolutionary styling-wise, it rides on Volkswagen’s all-new MQB platform, used likewise on the 2013 Audi A3 and SEAT Leon; it is also 100 kilograms lighter than the Mk6 thanks to Volkswagen’s hefty weight-saving measures.
Inside, the Mk7 is an evolution as well, with the biggest change being the center console which is now angled towards the driver. Interior packaging has also been improved thanks to a longer and wider cabin.
Two gasoline engines are on offer including a 1.2-litre TSI unit with 84hp returning 4.9 litre/100 km, and a 1.4-liter TSI with 138hp unit with Active Cylinder Technology, which can deactivate two of the cylinders, and achieves up to 4.8 litre/100 km.
