Volkswagen Releases First Photos Of Its Golf MK7 GTI

The first official photos the new Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI were uploaded on the internet ahead of the car’s first public appearance at the 2012 Paris Motor Show tomorrow. Despite being labeled as a “concept”, we believe it will remain unchanged for production.

Volkswagen’s new hothatch sits 17 millimeters lower than the standard Golf and is easily recognizable as a GTI due to the traditional design cues including a red pin stripe on a honeycomb front grille.

The GTI gets a 2.0-litre TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine developing 220 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a standard six-speed manual or an optional dual clutch DSG transmission.

According to the German automaker, the Golf Mk7 GTI can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 6.6 second if equipped with the dual clutch DSG transmission, with top speed maxing out at 246 km/h.
