To discover just how good electric cars are compared to their gasoline-powered counterparts, Automobile magazine decided to pit two of the best cars currently on the market, the BMW F10 M5 and the all-electric Tesla Model S, in a head-to-head drag race.
On paper, the Beemer holds a clear edge over its American rival with power on the German sedan coming from a twin-turbo V8 unit with 560 horsepower and 677 Nm of torque, the Tesla on the other hand is operated by a rear-mounted electric motor with 416 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.
