General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen join forces

General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen have extended their partnership by announcing their plans to co-develop four vehicle projects, with the first project being rolled off at the end of 2016.

The first project consists of a compact multipurpose van for Opel and Vauxhall, as well as a compact crossover SUV for Peugeot. The second program involves developing a small car for Opel and Citroen. The third project will be a new platform for next-generation Opel and PSA small cars with reduced CO2 emissions. The fourth program concerns developing mid-size cars for Opel, Peugeot and Citroen.

The automakers plan on saving up to 2 Billion dollars annually for the next five years with this joint venture.
