Jorge Lorenzo clinches MotoGP title in Australia

Jorge Lorenzo secured his second MotoGP world championship during the Australian GP after crossing the finish line in second place behind Casey Stoner who’s retiring at the end of this season.

Lorenzo’s tital rival Dani Pedrosa crashed out of the lead on lap two while pushing hard to stay ahead , thus handing his fellow countryman the championship win.

Casey Stoner inherited the lead from Pedrosa to dominate the whole race and clinch a comfortable victory ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, whose second-place finish was enough for the title.

Cal Crutchlow drove a lonely race to third, while teammate Andrea Dovizioso had to defend fourth place from Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl for most of the race.

Valentino Rossi settled for a seventh place finish in the uncompetitive Ducati.
