Joey Hajj: “It was unbelievable, a dream come true.”

Following his participation in the Red Bull Kart Fight World Finals at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy last weekend, we contacted Joey Hajj to discuss his once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“It was unbelievable, a dream come true” said the young Lebanese.

Joey, who had won the national Red Bull Kart Fight qualifying race at the Pit Stop Karting track back in November, contested the World Finals against winners from 19 other countries.

When asked about his race and the competitors he faced, Joey replied: “They’re all professionals. Someone hit me from behind on the first lap of the first race, so I went off track, but I was able to rejoin. The second race was good, finished 13th overall, but we were bumping into each other a lot.”

Joey met famous Red Bull Athletes including 9-times world rally champion Sebastien Loeb, Carlos Sainz, David Coulthard and Daniel Ricciardo – to name a few. The latter, who drives for Scuderia Toro Rosso F1, was Joey’s mentor.

Joey and Daniel exchanging tips

“Daniel was my mentor, and the track was pretty wet, so he gave me tips about braking points and steering; we exchanged a lot of information. I asked him about his career and how he started.” added Joey.

The event in Bologna witnessed more than 40,000 spectators over the weekend.
