Audi introduces new S3 Sportback

Audi has unveiled the first pictures of its new S3 Sportsback model – the sporty five-door version of its small family car, the A3 – before its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The new Audi S3 Sportback features a 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder with 300 hp available at 5,500 rpm; maximum torque of 380 Nm is constantly available from 1,800 to 5,500 rpm. Average fuel consumption is rated at 6.9 liters per 100 km thanks to many new technologies, including dual injection, Audi valvelift and innovative thermal management.

All four wheels are driven via a six-speed S tronic gearbox, which enables the sporty hatchback to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 5.0 seconds. Top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h.

The car’s total weight has been reduced to 1445 kilograms, 70 kilograms less than its predecessors mainly due to lightweight construction.

The exterior design comes with S-specific elements, including the grille and bumper, aluminum-look exterior mirror housings and special sill strips, the S3 roof spoiler, as well as the redesigned rear bumper and diffusor.

Further S-specific features accentuate the interior. The tachometer’s gauge integrates a boost-pressure display, while a driver information system, featuring a color screen and rest-recommendation alerts, is offered as standard.
