MINI, and in collaboration with freestyle skier and rally driver Guerlain Chicherit, pulled off the first ever backflip in a car using nothing but a static ramp and well uh, a MINI (duh).
According to MINI, Chicherit has now become the first person to execute such a maneuver with no assistance whatsoever, meaning without the aid of a special ramp with moving elements to boost the car’s rotational movement.
The successful stunt took place in the town of Tignes, one of France’s best-known winter sports locations; the town also hosted the freestyle skiing competitions in the 1992 Winter Olympic Games.
