Mercedes-Benz is planning to produce a limited special version of the renowned G63 AMG. As the name suggests, the G63 AMG 6×6 features six driven wheels.
The monstrous truck is based on a military version of the G320 CDI made for the Australian army and which is in use since 2011. It is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine with 536 horsepower and 758 Nm of torque coupled to a 7G-tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.
According to Axel Harries, Mercedes head of G-Class development, the G63 AMG 6×6 completes the 0-100km/h run in less than 6 seconds, before it hits an electronically-limited top speed of 160km/h; average fuel consumption is around 18 liter per 100 km.
The G63 AMG 6×6 will be Mercedes’ second most expensive car behind the SLS E-Drive, with the German brand planning to produce 20 to 30 trucks per year.
