Christophe Njeim scored his first victory of the season during round 3 of the 2013 Lebanese Karting Championship. The youngest of the Njeim brothers managed to qualify on pole in the Junior category, take a comfortable pre-final race win and eventually the final race victory.
Christopher had to fend off his brother Matthias throughout the final race, he said: “The final race was harder than the pre-final because I had used tyres on, unlike Matthias who had a new set on”.
Matthias Njeim, who finished second, had too much fuel onboard in the pre-final race and couldn’t quite keep up with his younger brother, but a quick fix for the final race meant that he was all over his brother’s back, however, never went for the gap.
“I could’ve overtaken him [Christopher], but I felt guilty since I had new tyres on and I won the last couple of rounds, so I felt guilty.” said Matthias after the race.
Third-placed Christophe Rizk fought hard for P2 during the pre-final race but simply couldn’t move past Matthias, and with used tyres in the final race, had to settle for the final podium spot.
