Sebastien Ogier crowned 2013 World Rally Champion!

Volkswagen driver Sebastien Ogier has been crowned the 2013 World Rally Champion at the Rally France this evening. The Frenchman went into the eleventh round of the season with an 83-point gap to second-placed Thierry Neuville; All Neuville had to do was not win Thursday’s super special stage to hand Ogier the title, which he did by finishing second.

Citroen driver Dani Sordo won the stage, 0.7 seconds ahead of Neuville, while 2013 World Champion Sebastien Ogier crossed the line third quickest, followed by Mikko Hirvonen and Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Loeb returned for his fourth and final outing of the season; he finished the stage seventh fastest.

This is Sebastien Ogier and Volkswagen Motorsport‘s first WRC drivers’ title; the team has enjoyed a lot of success on their debut season with 6 wins for Ogier and 1 win for team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala so far.
