2013 WRC Wales Rally GB: Ogier wins season finale

Sebastien Ogier ended the season on another high for himself and Volkswagen by winning the final round of the World Rally Championship in Wales this afternoon; the Frenchman secured his ninth win of the season out of 13 rallies.

Team-mate Jari Matti Latvala’s second place was the cherry on top of the cake for VW; he finished 20 seconds behind Ogier, with Thierry Neuville down in third; the latter earned 3 extra points having won the powerstage.

The battle for fourth place resumed on Sunday morning with M-Sport Ford’s Mads Ostberg retaking the position from Andreas Mikkelsen, to whom he lost yesterday; Ostberg made it stick and crossed the finish line ahead of his VW rival.

It was a disappointing final round for Citroen. Robert Kubica crashed his DS3 on both Friday and Saturday, Mikko Hirvonen rolled out on Friday and Dani Sordo finished a distant seventh place having been hit with a time penalty for using a ninth chassis this year.
