SX Team Schubert’s Dirk Werner topped the timesheets during the second free practice session for the Dubai 24 Hours on Dubai Autodrome; the German posted a 2:00.081 on the BMW Z4 GT3, bettering Spirit of Race’s #51 Ferrari that lead the way in FP1 by 0.2 seconds.
The session was interrupted with 40 minutes to go on the clock when AF Racing International’s Lamborghini Gallardo hit the barriers on turn 14. This is the second red flag of the day, the first was triggered in FP1 when GC Racing’s BMW caught fire.
Craft Racing AMR’s #7 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 was second quickest, just 0.026 seconds slower than the leading BMW, while Fach Auto Tech’s #4 Porsche 997 GT3 R came in third position, a further 0.1 seconds behind.
Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcon’s leading Mercedes finished the session fourth quickest, while the #2 car ended up in tenth position.
