The tenth hour of the Dubai 24 Hours has been dramatic for Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcon; after leading for most of the first nine hours, the #1 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 entered the pits for a battery change just minutes before the tenth hour and it slipped down the order as a consequence. More drama ensued as the black car was rolled into the garage a few laps later for an emergency repair.
Team Abu Dhabi by Black Falcon is now gradually tumbling down the order, while SX Team Schubert’s #76 BMW Z4 GT3 leads the race following a scheduled pit stop for Fach Auto Tech 2’s #4 Porsche 997 GT3 R which inherited a short-lived lead from Black Falcon 1 and is now holding on to second place overall.
Team Black Falcon’s #2 Mercedes is running third and is the car with the least stops so far (6), it is followed by Ram Racing’s #30 Ferrari 458 Italia, #20 Stadler Motorsport’s Porsche 997 Cup R and ALL-INKL.COM’s #38 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3.
Seven Code 60 flags have interrupted the race so far, with the latest occurring on the seventh hour when Team Parker Racing Ltd’s #163 Porsche 997 Cup stopped at turn 6 of the Dubai Autodrome.
The battle for victory remains wide open with more than 13 hours to go.
