Karl Massaad, a rising karting talent from Lebanon

Hard work pays off, and people who witnessed the development of Karl Massaad in the Lebanese Karting Championship can attest to that. Karl, who used to race at the end of the pack, is now fighting for race wins and podium finishes.

We have been keeping an eye on Karl’s progress since his debut in the Lebanese Karting Championship. At the age of 15, Karl is contesting another Karting season in 2014 and looks forward to challenging the more experienced Njeim brothers for the championship title.

In an interview with Karl, and when asked about how his passion for Karting began, the young kart racer said: “My passion for kart racing began back in 2011 when I was just 12 years old; I drove a rental kart and absolutely fell in love with it. With my father’s support, I managed to get my own Kart by the time I was 14.”

Karl’s string of podiums earned him second place in the championship, thus the chance to travel to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals 2013 in the United States. It was a great learning experience for Karl, who was actually having back problems, therefore couldn’t show his true pace against the world’s best kart racers.

“It was very very nice. I had some problems with my back, so it wasn’t really that good. I wasn’t driving that well, but I got experience for the future.” said Massaad of his endeavor in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.

On top of his participation in the Lebanese Karting Championship this year, Karl plans on going to France soon to tackle more races and expand his Karting portfolio before progressing to higher level racing categories in the not-so-distant future.

Massaad revealed: “We are planning to go to France soon to take part in several Karting races and perhaps the Grand Finals, but I’m assuming it will be just local races for the time being.”

We would like to wish Karl Massaad the best of luck in his racing journey, and we hope to see his name in international events soon.
