2014 Rally Portugal: Ogier takes comfortable victory

Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier cruised to victory in Rally Portugal at the end of three special stages on Sunday. Ogier controlled his pace in the first two special stages of the day, before pushing on the power stage to win it ahead of teammate Jari Matti Latvala who ended up 14th overall following his crash on Friday.

After losing the lead to Ogier on Saturday, M-Sport’s Mikko Hirvonen failed to keep up with his French rival, thus finishing second overall, more than 40 seconds behind, while Mads Ostberg occupied the final podium slot for Citroen.

Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah triumphed in WRC2 by finishing ninth overall. Driving a Ford Fiesta RRC, Al-Attiyah was 11 seconds quicker than closest pursuer Jari Ketomaa.
