Volkswagen has confirmed that it will put the Golf R 400 Concept – the hot hatch it recently unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show 2014 – into production, according to Car & Driver, who spoke to VW research and development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser.
However, Neusser did not reveal when the production version of the most powerful Golf will be produced.
As a reminder, the Golf R 400 Concept features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers a whopping 400 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Its six-speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive help it sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds before maxing out at 280 km/h.
