Porsche is working on a new supercar that is set to rival Ferrari’s highly-popular 458 Italia, according to a latest report by British car magazine Autocar.
The new Porsche will allegedly feature a quad-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-eight engine that develops approximately 600 horsepower and more than 540Nm of torque. Codenamed “988”, the supercar will boast a completely new architecture that relies on extensive use of aluminum and composite structural elements.
Aesthetically, the Porsche 988 will borrow design cues from the 918 Spyder. The car is expected to go on sale in 2017.
