2014 Italian Grand Prix Race Results

Lewis Hamilton secured his 28th career victory in Formula 1 this afternoon during the 2014 Italian Grand Prix in Monza in a tough race for the Briton. The Mercedes driver, who qualified on pole, had a very slow start and dropped to fourth place, but he quickly overtook his opponents Kevin Magnussen (McLaren) and Felipe Massa (Williams) to move up to second place, before benefiting from a mistake by his teammate Nico Rosberg to retake the lead and cruise to victory.

Williams’ Felipe Massa rounded out the podium after a lonely drive to third place, while his teammate Valtteri Bottas made a brilliant recovery to finish fourth after dropping from the third to 11th on the start.

Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo moved up the field in a late charge and completed the race ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso retired from the race due to a mechanical failure on his car.

Sergio Perez (Force India) and Jenson Button were locked in a superb battle for seventh place during the second half of the race, but it was the former who eventually snatched the position.
