Volkswagen’s Jari-Matti Latvala has extended his Rally France-Alsace lead to almost 15 seconds following Saturday morning’s action, while Sebastien Ogier further dropped back after a disastrous day on Friday.
Latvala won all three special stages (SS8, SS9, SS10) in Saturday’s morning loop, but team mate Andreas Mikkelsen remains well within contention for victory with four stages to go this afternoon, and an additional four tomorrow morning.
Ogier, who suffered from gearbox issues yesterday, was hit with a four-minute penalty when co-driver Julian Ingrassia checked them into SS3 early.
In the overall standings, Latvala leads ahead of Mikkelsen, with Citroen’s Kris Meeke best of the rest in third place, followed by Hyundai’s Dani Sordo who’s being chased by Robert Kubica.
