WRC Rally Spain 2014 – Results after SS4

Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier has taken the lead in Rally Spain, the penultimate round of the 2014 World Rally Championship, after four special stages, three of which took place this morning.

It was Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) who lead the way on Thursday’s super special, and maintained his advantage on the opening stage this morning (SS2) despite being only sixth fastest, but he lost out to his rivals in the next two stages, with Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville stealing the lead in SS3, before being beaten to the position by Sebastien Ogier in SS4.

Ogier, who won Friday morning’s closing stage (SS4), is now 8 seconds ahead of Neuville who in turn holds an 11-second advantage over Citroen’s Mads Ostberg. M-Sport Ford driver Mikko Hirvonen is fourth, just 0.2 seconds behind Ostberg.

Title contender Jari-Matti Latvala has had a difficult morning and is down in seventh place overall.
