Sebastien Ogier secured his second consecutive world drivers’ title after winning Rally Spain, the penultimate round of the 2014 WRC season, on Sunday,
The Frenchman led for most of the four-day mixed surface event to head Volkswagen Polo R team-mate and championship rival Jari-Matti Latvala by 11.3sec to clinch the title with one round remaining.
Mikko Hirvonen took the final podium place on this 12th round of the FIA World Rally Championship in a Ford Fiesta RS, 1min 42.2sec behind Ogier.
Latvala won the rally-closing live TV Power Stage to take maximum bonus points. Kris Meeke claimed two points for second in a Citroen DS3, with Andreas Mikkelsen taking one point for third in another Polo R.
Citroen’s Mads Ostberg had to settle for fourth place in front of the two Hyundais of Dani Sordo and Thierry Neuville.
