2014 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Results

Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg secured his fifth victory of the season in an exciting 2014 Brazilian Grand Prix that saw his team mate Lewis Hamilton commit a costly mistake and finish second.

Rosberg lead the way at the start and maintained the lead, but a mistake from Hamilton on turn 4 right before his first pit stop saw him lose more than 5 seconds to his team mate and ended his hopes of jumping Rosberg after the second round of pits. Hamilton put on a string of fast laps to close the 7-second gap to his team mate, but he just wasn’t able to move past and settled for second place.

Despite a 5-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, Williams’ Felipe Massa clinched his second podium finish of the season after crossing the line in third place, more than 40 seconds behind the two Mercedes, while McLaren’s Jenson Button took a strong fourth ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and the battling Ferrari duo Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.

Hamilton now lies 17 points ahead of his team mate Rosberg in the championship with only the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where double points will be awarded, to go.
