Under the Bahrain International Circuit floodlights, Prince Abdulaziz Turki AlFaisal completed his first race with Aston Martin Racing in the World Endurance Championship, successfully crossing the 6 Hours of Bahrain finish line after a not-so-perfect race.
The race weekend kicked off with two practice sessions on Thursday, followed by a third session on Friday where ATF and his team mates Alex MacDowall (UK) and Fernando Rees (Brazil) worked together to fine-tune the #99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE ahead of Qualifying and the race.
In Friday evening’s Qualifying session, the Aston Martin Racing trio managed to clock the fourth fastest time in the GTE Pro class, which put them in a great position to fight for the podium during the race.
Saturday’s race looked promising, with ATF and his team mates running in third place in GTE Pro during the first hour, but mechanical trouble in the second hour killed the team’s chances of securing a place on the podium. However, the squad was adamant to keep the #99 Aston in the race – tirelessly working to get it fixed.
Against all odds, AlFaisal, MacDowell and Rees were successfully able to reach the finish line after 6 hours of hard racing; this marked AlFaisal’s first WEC accomplishment with the British outfit.
