Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets during the first free practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, lapping the Yas Marina Circuit in 1 minute 43.476 seconds, almost 0.1 seconds quicker than his team mate and title rival Nico Rosberg.
The Mercedes boys were 1.7 seconds faster than their closest pursuer, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who’s leaving the Italian team at the end of the season.
