Man had a turn signal lever stuck in his arm for 51 years

January 3, 2015 – 51 years ago, in 1963, US citizen Arthur Lampitt was involved in a near-fatal crash that left him with a broken hip and cracked ribs. Also, his Ford Thunderbird’s turn signal lever somehow managed to secretly find its way into his arm.

Lampitt discovered the lever 35 years later when he entered a court room and a set off a metal detector. After speaking to doctors, he decided to leave the foreign metal object in his arm because it was causing him no pain.

Fast forward to 2014 when the turn signal lever was finally removed after Lampitt had felt pain and experienced swelling in his arm while lifting a concrete block, but the doctor and Lampitt were unsure of what the piece was.

It was only when Lampitt looked at pictures of his 1953 accident that he discovered that the small metal piece was the turn signal lever from his Ford Thunderbird.
