January 9, 2015 – Battling with Robby Gordon and Giniel de Villiers, in Iquique Nasser Al-Attiyah has picked up his third victory since the start of the rally in Buenos Aires, another great performance from the Qatari driver who is starting to leave his mark on the 2015 edition.
Second, 37 seconds behind the day’s winner, Giniel De Villiers is maintaining the pressure on Nasser Al-Attiyah. The South Arican is eleven minutes behind the Qatari who is still on course for outright victory.
The essence of consistency on the Dakar after eight participations already, Helder Rodrigues also knows how to win. The Portuguese rider has won his 6th stage on the Dakar and his first this year.
In the shadow of Marc Coma and Joan Barreda since Buenos Aires, Paulo Gonçalves has finally regained time over his two Spanish rivals in Iquique. Only 1 minute 42 seconds behind the day’s winner, the Portuguese rider has clawed back 5 minutes 40 seconds from overall leader Barreda and 7 minutes 30 seconds from Coma.
