January 14, 2015 – Nani Roma can now finally savour the taste of victory in the Dakar 2015. The Spaniard has not done things by half in Calama and has beaten his rivals by 6 minutes 27 seconds for his closest pursuer and 21 minutes 58 seconds for the third placed driver, which is an impressive show of force.
In second place behind Nani Roma, more importantly Nasser Al-Attiyah has a distanced Giniel De Villiers by some way in Calama. The Qatari has moved more than fifteen minutes further away from the Toyota driver, increasing his lead to nearly 24 minutes in the general standings.
The Dakar 2015 experienced by Helder Rodrigues is a real rollercoaster. Winner of the 6th stage, the Portuguese rider went through hell on the route to Iquique, losing more than three hours. This has seemed to stoke his appetite and remove the pressure, because he has claimed the stage victory with a lead of almost four minutes over the runner-up today in Calama.
