February 4, 2015 – The opening super-special stage of the QMMF Qatar International Rally – first round of the 2015 Middle East Rally Championship – which was initially set to take place on Thursday, February 5 in the Doha Corniche, has been cancelled.
The cancellation of the super-special stage occurred while, for unrelated reasons, several competitors announced their withdrawal, including Kuwait’s Meshari Al Thefiri and Omani drivers Khalid Soomar and Khalid Saleh Al Minji, which brings the total number of competitors down from 15 to 12.
With the super special stage no longer part of the itinerary, the Qatar International Rally action will officially start on Friday, February 6, with six special stages scheduled for that day, followed by another six on Saturday.
