- The electric winch
One of the worst things that can happen when you’re off-roading is getting stuck somewhere, whether it’s a snow bed, a muddy ditch, or some other hazard. Of course if you have a winch, then you’re completely prepared to get your vehicle out of almost any situation. But which type of winch should you choose?
General rule of thumb is that your winch should be for 1 ½ times the weight of the vehicle.
The reason of this is that your vehicle weight will most likely be compounded by the media in which you’re stuck (mud, snow, rock, etc.). Also, there’s a good chance you’ll be pulling on an incline, not on a flat surface, adding even more pressure for the winch to bear. So if you have a 2000kg Jeep, you’ll probably want to go with a 3000 kg winch.
Styles of Winches:
1. Non-integrated Winches
*Come with a separate solenoid box, which is the “brain,” or what controls your winch. *Can mount the solenoid box on top of the winch, alongside the winch, or remote mount it anywhere you want on the vehicle.
* Better if you have space constraints.
2. Integrated Winches
* All the components are in one package.
* Water resistant; fairly sealed against weather.
* Plug-n-play: take it out of the box, bolt it on your bumper, hook up two power wires, and you’re ready to start winching.

Turn the power on the power button of the winch.
Pulling out the cable -
Use the forward and reverse lever on the side of the winch as desired.

Wrap the cable around the base of the tree or to the pintle of an other 4×4 using the “hook” . Make sure it is tight. Secure the cable by pulling the cable tight as you hit the reverse switch and start “reeling” in the excess cable that you let out.

From the driver seat and give it some gas in the case of a mechanical winch or use the remote for electrical winches.
