March 2, 2015 – Mick Schumacher, the 15-year-old son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, will kick off his racing career in German Formula 4 this season.
Mick, who finished runner-up in both the European and German karting championships last year, has signed a deal with Dutch junior team Van Amersfoort Racing who 17-year-old Max Verstappen raced for in European F3 last season before graduating to Formula 1.
The 2015 ADAC Formula 4 Championship, which runs to the FIA’s new F4 format for young drivers, starts on the last weekend of April at the circuit of Oschersleben in Germany.
Mick’s father Michael, the most successful F1 driver of all time with seven world titles, continues to recover at home from the severe head injuries he suffered in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013.
