March 10, 2015 – EVO magazine delivered quite an interesting match-up in its Deadly Rivals webseries a few days ago, featuring the 30th edition of the BMW M5 and the new BMW M4.
On paper, the bigger M5 30 Jahre Edition is more powerful, with 600 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque compared to the M4’s 425 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. However, the smaller M4 is much lighter; it tips the scales at 1572 kilograms, while the M5 weighs 1945 kilograms – a massive 373-kilogram difference that could prove crucial on the racetrack.
So, is power and brute force more important than lightness and agility on a circuit? Find out in the video below (Hot laps start at 5:54).
