March 15, 2015 – Lebanese Brazilian driver Felipe Nasr has made an outstanding start to his Formula 1 career today as he finished a solid fifth in the opening round of the 2015 season in Australia.
Nasr, who qualified eleventh on Saturday, made a great start in Sunday’s race and was up to fifth place after the first corner of the first lap; he then fended off the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo and the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen to maintain the position.
In the end, Nasr, who races under the Brazilian nationality, gave Sauber its best result since the 2013 Korean Grand Prix (where Nico Hulkenberg finished fourth) and scored 10 valuable points on his first ever Formula 1 outing.
“It was a unique feeling, I couldn’t ask for better. It was a dream come true. It’s been some hard years to arrive in Formula 1, and to see that finish line was a big relief. It’s a pleasant feeling for everyone that believed in me since the beginning.” said Nasr at the end of the race.
