June 3, 2015 – BMW has officially taken the wraps off the second-generation X1 compact crossover today.
The new model ditches the boxy and awkward styling of the previous generation for a more refined and aggressive look. Inside, the 2016 X1’s high-quality cabin is not too dissimilar to the one in the outgoing model.
Three petrol engines will be available: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol with either 192 horsepower or 231 hp, and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 136 hp; the engines can be paired to a new six-speed manual or a new eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
The 2016 BMW X1 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015.
