September 12, 2015 – Volkswagen’s Sebastien Ogier has taken the Rally Australia lead as he won two of Saturday’s special stages (SS11 and SS12).
Jari-Matti Latvala entered the second day of competition in the lead, but he lost time to Citroen’s Kris Meeke and his teammate Ogier, which dropped him back to third place overall. Meek, on the other hand, lead for the majority of Saturday, but found himself behind Ogier at the end of the day, with only 0.3 seconds separating the pair.
Hyundai’s Haydon Paddon won the other two stages (SS9 and SS10) and now lies fifth overall ahead of sixth-placed man M-Sport Ford’s Ott Tanak and behind VW’s Andreas Mikkelsen who’s fourth overall.
In WRC2, Ukraine’s Yuriy Protasov managed to reduce the gap to Nasser Al Attiyah, who faced driveshaft issues in his Fiesta RRC, from 50 seconds to 14 seconds.
