December 12, 2015 – Michel Zgheib enjoyed a highly successful season in the 2015 Lebanese Hill Climb Championship, completing a clean sweep by winning the SM/4 class in three out of three Hill Climbs onboard his BMW E30.
In Deir El Qamar Hill Climb, the first round of the season, Michel produced a superb drive, keeping his main competitors on their toes, to take the SM/4 class win and finish second in the rear-wheel drive category behind Paul Kossaifi in his quicker SM/5-spec BMW E46.
Michel’s stellar form continued in the second round in Falougha where he was once again a match to his rear-wheel drive rivals. He went as quick as Paul Kossaifi in the first heat, but the SM/5 drivers – both Paul and eventual winner Garo Haroutiounian – were too quick for him in the second and third heats. Michel settled for third in rear-wheel drive, but had plenty to be happy about as he netted another SM/4 class win.
Bkassine Hill Climb was business as usual for Michel, who put in a spectacular performance as he thrashed his BMW E30 with some sideways action to make it three out of three wins in the SM/4 class in the end – and third in RWD. His outstanding drive in Bkassine made a few international headlines.
After an impeccable performance in 2015, there’s barely enough room for “better” in 2016. How can Michel Zgheib surprise us next season? We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, enjoy the videos.
