Dakar Rally: Loeb takes Stage 5 win and extends lead

January 7, 2016 – WRC legend Sebastien Loeb made it three victories in four special stages so far as he set the fastest time on the fifth special stage today, extending his lead to 7 minutes 48 seconds.

Yesterday’s stage winner Stephane Peterhansel was third fastest, maintaining second place in the overall standings whilst teammate Carlos Sainz made it a Peugeot 1-2-3 as he scored the second fastest time and moved to third overall.

X-Raid MINI driver Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah dropped to fourth overall as he crossed today’s stage fourth quickest; he’s ahead of Leeroy Poulter, Giniel de Villiers and Mikko Hirvonen respectively in the overall standings.

Saudi Arabia’s Yazeed Al Rajhi broke the top 10 barrier and currently lies 10th overall.
