January 12, 2016 – Stephane Peterhansel could lose the Dakar Rally lead that he inherited from his Peugeot teammate Sebastien Loeb yesterday as he’s under investigation over illegal refuelling.
The Frenchman has been accused of refuelling in an unauthorized area in Stage 8 and he’s currently in talks with the event’s official; if found guilty, Peterhansel could lose the lead of the Dakar.
“The rule is very clear and easy to decide. At the meeting it was said that there would be no refuelling. The rule says that. The point is clear 100 per cent. The charging point in the road book was to motorcycles and quads, not cars.” said director of rival X-Raid team Sven Quandt.
