Lebanon’s Charbel Habib and Walid Samaha to contest Peking to Paris endurance rally

January 14, 2016 – Lebanese driver Charbel Habib and his fellow countryman co-driver Walid Samaha have officially begun their preparations for the 6th Peking to Paris endurance rally, which is scheduled to kick off on June 12, 2016 in Peking (Beijing), China. Their exciting journey will come to an end in French capital Paris 35 days later, on July 17, 2016.

The race will cover a massive 13,695-kilometer total distance, visiting several countries in Asia and Europe, including China, Mongolia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy and France. Habib and Samaha – the only Lebanese and Arab drivers competing – will travel the distance in a 1964 Porsche 356C powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four engine that produces 75 hp.

The 6th Peking to Paris race encompasses four main categories: Vintage cars (1920 to 1931 type cars), Vintageant cars (1932 to 1941 type cars), Classic cars up to 2.0 liters (1942 to 1975) and Classic cars over 2.0 liters (1942 to 1975).

Habib and Samaha will reveal their Porsche – which will be shipped to China after it is race-ready – in the near future, and they will test the iconic sports car on Lebanese soil in order to familiarize themselves with it.

It is worth mentioning that 120 crews from the all over the world will be competing in the 6th Peking to Paris endurance race that is held once every 3 years.
