March 1, 2016 – Lamborghini is celebrating the centenary of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth by introducing the Centenario supercar at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show this week.
Based on the Aventador, the Centenario uses a naturally aspirated V12 engine that makes 770 horsepower, which helps it sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of more than 350 km/h. A monocoque and body in full carbon fiber provide a weight of 1,520 kilograms – 55 kg lighter than the Aventador.
The car features an aggressive aerodynamic design that includes an extending rear wing providing more downforce at high speeds. There’s also rear-wheel steering, which should provide increased agility and stability.
Only 20 coupé and 20 roadster versions of the Lamborghini Centenario will be produced and all 40 cars are already sold, at a start price of 1.9 million US dollars.
