March 28, 2016 – The rear-wheel drive category of the Lebanese Hillclimb Championship had been a two-way battle between SM5 class contestants Paul Kossaifi and Garo Haroutiounian in recent years, but that’s about to change in 2016.
Michel Zgheib, who drove a BMW E30 last year and won the SM4 class in all three rounds of the championship, is set to compete in the higher SM5 class after revealing that he upgraded from a 3.0-liter to a 3.2-liter engine. In order to be eligible for SM5 competition, the car’s weight had to be increased from 980kg to 1,100kg as well.
Zgheib’s BMW was reworked at Naoum Oneissy’s garage and it should enable the SM4 champion to fight for overall rear-wheel drive glory throughout the 2016 season.
