April 5, 2016 – Rodolphe Asmar will contest the full Lebanese Rally Championship season this year, in addition to the full Middle East Rally Championship, the young Lebanese rally driver confirmed.
Rodolphe will drive a Ford Fiesta R5 in the first three rounds of the local championship alongside co-driver George Nader and will switch to a Mitsubishi Evo for the final round – the 39th Rally of Lebanon – in order to be eligible for Group N points in the Middle East Rally Championship.
Moreover, Rodolphe plans to contest all of the remaining rounds of the Middle East Rally Championship, having already competed successfully in Qatar and Kuwait on an Evo. He also revealed that he’ll be taking part in the third round of the 2016 French Rally Championship, Rallye Antibes Côte d’Azur – which was won by Roger Feghali on a Focus WRC last year – in a Peugeot 208 R2.
Rodolphe had a greatly impressive rallying debut in 2015 where he showed competitive pace throughout the season, climbing on the podium in the Jezzine Rally after finishing third in Group N in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
The 20-year-old aims to further improve this season, saying: “Last year was an introduction to the world of rallying, and I learned a lot from my mistakes. This year, the target is continue the learning process by familiarizing myself with the new car and improving on last year’s results.”
“I would like to thank my sponsors for their support, including my father, IPT and Athletic Training Performance (ATP).”
Rodolphe’s first appearance in the Ford Fiesta R5 will be at the 2016 Spring Rally, which kicks off on Sunday, April 10.
