April 15, 2016 – The Jordan Rally is set for a spectacular Amman city centre launch on May 5 with an evening of thrills and spills at the new Abdali.
An agreement has been signed between organizers Jordan Motorsport and Abdali to launch one of the Kingdom’s favourite sporting and social events at the world-class new Abdali downtown which is becoming the new business, commercial and leisure hub for Amman.
It marks a return to the same venue which hosted the start in 2014, and organizers expect thousands of spectators to once again turn up to make it an evening to remember.
“On behalf of Jordan Motorsport, I would like to thank Abdali for inviting us back and we look forward to providing some top class motorsporting entertainment on May 5,” said Othman Nassif, CEO of Jordan Motorsport and Chairman of the Rally Organizing Committee.
“With many our competitive stages being run through the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley areas, it is important that we provide the opportunity for everyone to enjoy the event so by returning to this high profile city centre location we are bringing it to the fans.”
The launch evening will feature the ceremonial start and a specially constructed spectator stage held in the shadows of the state-of-the-art constructions taking shape on the development site which is changing the face of Amman.
Eng. Nicolas Saba, CEO of Abdali Investment & Development PSC, stated: “We are delighted to host the Jordan Rally for the second time, which is widely recognized as a leading event on the FIA Middle East Rally Championship and an important event to Jordan as well as the region.
“The prestigious leadership and the grandeur of the event are parallel to those of Abdali, the new downtown of Amman. At Abdali we continuously strive to attract and collaborate with leading pioneering events, particularly ones that have a national vision that promotes Jordan as a business and tourism destination.”
Bolstering Amman’s economic standing as a business, residential, tourism, retail, medical and entertainment hub, Abdali stands as the largest mixed-use development project ever constructed in the heart of the Jordanian capital.
Following the high profile launch, the Jordan Rally will continue over May 6 and 7 with the region’s best drivers competing alongside the leading speedsters from Jordan for one of motorsport’s most sought after titles.
It will be the third round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship which has already visited Qatar and Kuwait this year.
