May 5, 2016 – If the 1 million euro Peugeot 205 T16 Group B rally car is too much money for you, here’s an equally desirable and much cheaper alternative: a Subaru Impreza 22B STI, and it’s going to be auctioned soon.
Subaru built only 424 of these back in 1998 to commemorate both its 40th anniversary as well as its third consecutive manufacturers’ title in the FIA World Rally Championship. All cars were finished in the unique color of “555” Blue and featured the wider body carried over from the actual WRC cars.
The 22B STI has a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 276 horsepower and 359 Nm of torque, and it weighs just 1270 kilograms, which enables it to travel from 0 to 100 km/h in around four seconds – as fast as a brand new Porsche 911 Carrera S.
This particular model has 2500 miles (4000 kilometers) on the odometer, and it’s expected to fetch between 90,000 and 100,000 US dollars at Silverstone Auctions.
