May 8, 2016 – Lebanese rally driver Rodolphe Asmar secured his second career podium position in the Middle East Rally Championship during the third round of the 2016 season this past weekend, the Jordan International Rally.
Asmar, alongside co-driver Joseph Matar, completed the event in sixth place overall and third in the MERC 2/Group N category, but he didn’t have it easy, as he had to recover from an incident which cost him around 20 minutes.
The 20-year-old rolled his Mitsubishi Evo IX on Friday, but he fiercely fought back on Saturday to claw back 4 positions and end up on the podium, as well as score the Junior Cup for the third consecutive time after the first two rounds in Qatar and Kuwait.
The fourth round of the Middle East Rally Championship will be on Asmar’s home turf in Lebanon on September 2-4.
