May 12, 2016 – Toyota has announced that it will cease production of the FJ Cruiser in August of this year.
The Japanese automaker stopped producing the FJ Cruiser in the United States back in 2014, but continued to sell the model in Australia, Japan and the Middle East. However, it has now decided to completely discontinue the model after 10 years in the market due to slow sales.
The FJ Cruiser is an off-road capable SUV based on the shorter version of the Land Cruiser Prado platform. It comes with a 4.0-liter V6 engine that makes 268 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque and pushes all four wheels.
