July 1, 2016 – Mercedes AMG has confirmed that the upcoming E63 AMG model will not feature a rear-wheel drive configuration, and that they’re working on an new all-wheel drive system that will come as standard.
In an interview with Top Gear, AMG boss Tobias Moers revealed that Mercedes is killing the rear-wheel drive E63 AMG because of slow sales, with 90 percent of the car’s owners in Germany preferring all-wheel drive.
Moers also confirmed that the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 from the AMG GT and the C63 AMG will be used in the new E63 AMG. However, he did not disclose the specific output.
